Background/Summary

Greatworth Community Transport Association (GCTA) was formed in April 2020 and registered with the Charity Commission as a “Charitable Incorporated Organisation” (CIO). The registered charity number is 1189162 and we can be seen on the Charity Commission website. GCTA is managed by a board of 5 Trustees, all members of the community.

The idea for a minibus service originated with the Governors of the primary school who realised that the construction of HS2 would have a severe impact on the school’s access to the Farm Education Centre at Greatworth Hall. The idea was further developed to include services for all the community as we are all affected by HS2. Therefore, Greatworth Community Transport Association was formed in order to seek funding for the project.

Acknowledgement of Funding (HS2 CEF, Groundwork, SNC)

Funding was sought from the HS2 Community and Environment Fund (CEF) which was
created to add benefit to communities along the HS2 route that are demonstrably disrupted by the construction of the railway. The fund is managed by Groundwork on behalf of HS2 Ltd. A comprehensive application was made, including research into the need for a transport service in the community. The application was for just under £75,000 in order to lease a minibus and provide services for a period of three years. The application was successful and the grant awarded

A further award was obtained from South Northants Council (SNC).

The services provided by GCTA are run by a group of volunteers who act as administrators and drivers. We are not allowed to transport the general public and so we have formed the GCTA Travel Club. All passengers must be members of the Travel Club which is free to join. Please read the terms and conditions found under the “Travel Club” tab.

We are pleased to acknowledge the funding provided by the HS2 Community &
Environment Fund (managed by Groundwork) and by South Northants Council.
